Bahraini Analyst Highlights West’s Double Standards on Palestine, Quran Burnings, Ukraine
In an exclusive article for IQNA, Khalil Hassan highlighted the West’s double standards in dealing with major developments in the world. Following are excerpts from his article:
The world is witnessing the devastations in Gaza, one of the world’s most densely populated cities in the world, as a result of the relentless bombings by the racist regime (of Israel).
The destructions caused by the aggression launched by a regime that usurped the land of the Palestinian people over 75 years ago left no doubt that the West’s conscience is in a deep slumber.
It is for that reason that there has been no condemnation of the Israeli regime’s killing of innocent people, including women and children, and use of internationally-banned white phosphorus bombs in Gaza by the Western countries so far.
(Also), how come the burning of the Holy Quran, the sacred book of the world’s over 1.5 billion Muslims, is not considered in the West as an insult to a religious, ethnic or national group while anyone criticizing the racist, usurper Zionist regime will be accused of anti-Semitism?
Another example of the West’s dual approach to world affairs is that it supports Ukraine and considers its war with Russia to regain its lands as legitimate but fails to consider the same right for Palestinians.
Politicians in Western countries must come to their senses and abandon such lies, double standards and hypocrisy and tell the truth to their people for the sake of peace, ending bloodshed and respecting human rights, including the right of the Palestinian people to live in their own land with dignity.
